Denis Bertollo LL.B

Denis grew up in Griffith. In 1989 he went to Sydney for his HSC, followed by five years at university (UNSW) studying a combined commerce (finance) and law degree.
In 1995 Denis worked for a small law firm in Bondi Junction. The work was mainly commercial and was very broad and varied. After the degree, Denis worked for two years at a mid-sized city law firm of 100 or so people. The work was mainly commercial work. While there, an opportunity came up in 1997 to work for a large city law firm of 800 or so people (Blake Dawson Waldron).
Denis worked at BDW for seven years. The work was banking and finance work, acting for both borrowers and banks. The transactions included borrowings (whether secured or not), property developments, acquisitions (involving either listed or unlisted entities), offshore transactions and private equity transactions.
As much as Denis enjoyed his time at BDW, in late 2004 he decided (for lifestyle reasons) to leave Sydney and return to his hometown of Griffith. Denis commenced with Cater & Blumer as a full-time employee in April 2005 and, since January 2006, has been a consultant to Cater & Blumer.
Denis’ work covers:
· general commercial work
· business consulting work
· sale and purchase of businesses
· succession (eg estate planning, testamentary trusts and wills, particularly given issues such as taxation, stamp duty, asset protection)
· property work (eg sale and purchase of rural properties, residential properties and commercial properties, leasing, intergenerational transfers)
· banking work (eg acting for banks and for borrowers (whether individual or corporate) on all documentation relating to loans)
